Green: Day Three

Grand Hotel has been using this snow fence for years now, but I can remember a time when they didn't put it around the golf course during the winter. You see, we get lazy after a winter of riding snowmobiles. Some of us get so lazy that we are quite reluctant to give them up when spring arrives and go back to riding bicycles. Back in the pre-fence days, the die-hards would ride their snowmobiles on the golf course to get to town in the spring. Since the roads get plowed and have a thinner layer of snow than everything else, they melt first and become impossible to ride on. You can imagine how the hotel felt about that. So now, thanks to the snow fence, when spring arrives there are no muddy tracks across the course where the snowmobiles have chewed up the grass.

I for one, while I am sad to see my machine put away, am always thrilled to get back onto my bike. I hate the smell of the exhaust for one, and I'm usually just ready for a change. Plus, getting back on my bike means that spring has sprung and I can start looking forward to warmer weather.

It's pretty even though it's in need of repair.

I would LOVE not having to drive a car. I hate cars, but everything is so far away here, that it would be tough not to.

Thanks for stopping by, and sorry I didn't have my green photos up yet! You prompted me too. My husband went to high school in St. Ignace and we got married there, so we are excited you posted! I'm going to send your blog to a few family members. His folks live down state now but the straights will always be "home". And, Matt says "I miss the ice bridge!"
