This is SO How My Husband Feels...

Well, except for the singing. Allen rarely breaks out in song.

But to his credit, he bought the soundtrack for the kids. He even got the CD with the bonus karaoke version of Let it Go. He must really love us...

Maybe?

One of our "songs of the summer" this year is Call Me Maybe. You know what I mean, don't you. Those songs that the kids ask to play again and again and again. I know lots of people find it really annoying, but my kids love it, and it's grown on me... a lot. My husband isn't what you'd call a fan, so he's been having lots of fun finding spoofs for the kids to enjoy.  These two take the cake. I can't even begin to imagine how much time the Star Wars one took.

If I had to choose a favorite, my vote would go to Cookie Monster. How about you?

Other songs the kids have added to our summer play list:
  • Girls Just Want to Have Fun (Cyndi Lauper)
  • Dynamite (Taio Cruz)
  • Party Rock Anthem (LMFAO)
  • Do-Re-Mi (Sound of Music)
  • Dancing Queen (ABBA)
  • Re: Your Brains (Johnathan Coulton)
  • King of Spain - (Moxy Fruvous)
  • Hakuna Matata (Lion King)
  • Hola Lola (Dear Edwina)
  • Pollywog in a Bog (Barenaked Ladies)
  • Abcosaurs (Most Amazing Dinosaur Songs)
  • Defying Gravity (Wicked)
  • Anything & everything sung by a Muppet

Making Me Smile

My husband has introduced me to the music of this guy. And while some of his music is way too geeky for me (yes, it is possible,) I do really like this song. Listen to it - ignore the video and just let that guitar soak in...

There's nothing like a song about a giant squid to put me in a good mood...

Me Likey

(Taken in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, in February 2008, from my second row seat!)

Anyone who has ever lived with me (and been scarred by my playing the same music over and over again) knows that I am a huge Barenaked Ladies fan. If you're not familiar with them you should know they're Canadian, they're men, and they are usually fully clothed. (My friend Michelle and I did get an accidental eye full once.) Anyway...

A while back BNL parted ways with their lead singer, Steven Page (the guy on the left,) and they just came out with their first single since he left the band. Go ahead and listen; I'll wait...

Apparently not all browsers support the widget above. If you don't see a box to play the song, click here to listen.

I'm on listen number 52 (or there abouts) and I like it. I was worried about whether or not I would like their music as much after Steve left the band since he had such an amazing voice, but now I am really looking forward to their next album (due out at the end of March.) I wonder if I can pre-order it yet though Amazon?
