Camping at Brevoort Lake

We spent last weekend camping at Brevoort Lake, which is in Brevort, Michigan. I have no idea why the lake has two letter Os, while the city only has one, but it was a beautiful place to spend the weekend. Hands down, my favorite part was listening to the loons in the morning.

I don't think I posted about it, but last year we bought a Hiker Trailer from some friends who had outgrown it. Owning a teardrop camper had been a dream of Allen's for a while and when opportunity knocked, we jumped.  We've been trying to camp, at least once a month, to get a feel for it and learn what gear we need and what we can live without.

I've really enjoyed getting to explore places close to home. Northern Michigan is such a lovely place, and there are so many places, like Brevoort Lake, that I've never gotten to see.

Liz, I so enjoy your blog, way over social media posts. They are like a breath of fresh air without all the buzz of those platforms, pulling one in so many directions. Your blog gives the quiet and down-to-earth feel of full-time Island and Michigan life.

I grew up in MI, fell in love with Mackinac as a girl with camping trips from which we took day trips to the island. So neat to hear you go off island to camp.

Summer 1991 I worked at MPR as an assistant in convention services and was so hard to leave that September end. When visiting Mackinac the summer before student teaching I spoke with Gary Urman about applying to teach at your school, but as a single girl, chickened out fearing I would feel isolated in winters.

Apologies for my long post as I have a lot of stored up thoughts for the many times I've thought of reaching out to thank you for sharing your life on Mackinac. (We live in Evergreen CO, my husband's hometown, where my husband works at our water plant, like your husband:)

Best wishes for your upcoming school year ~
Kim
