Such fun... The kids and I headed downtown yesterday to celebrate the Fourth. We took Papa a picnic lunch and then all headed to Windermere Point for the holiday festivities. We watched the International Stone Skipping Contest (the winner had more than 20 skips!) and the sack races, enjoyed the face painting, and explored the fire trucks before nap time beckoned...
The later-than-usual nap was the only reason S and K made it through the fireworks. (We are above the 45th parallel, so this time of year it is still dusk after 10:00 pm. Our fireworks didn't begin until after 10:30.) This year marks the first time I made a serious attempt to photograph them. I must admit, I am pleased at the result. (For those who are interested: ISO 200, f/11, & approximately a 10 second exposure.)

That's a great fireworks shot. Twenty skips! Wow that must've been something to see. I'm always happy with 3!
great shot! And a tripod, right??!!
Yes, how could I have forgotten to mention that!?
I will be teaching 5th grade. I taught 8th grade previously and loved it... really loved it.
But, this will be in the same school my children attend. I am still floored that I will be payed to do what I love.
There are about 30 schools in my district and the fact that I was chosen to teach at this school still amazes me.
I am a lucky girl indeed... And crazy thankful! Thanks for checking up on me... Kayce
Wonderful shot out standing. So happy you shared that with us.
Love your blog keep giving us more we love it!
amazing capture! I thought about trying to photograph the fireworks, but that's as far as I got. :)
Wonderful picture. Rock skipping...I love to do that. I'm not very good at it, but I remember spending hours as kids trying to get as many skips as we could.
What a gorgeous photo! I admire you for even trying to see fireworks that late with two little ones. I wish my guys could have seen that rock skipping contest.
This is a beautiful shot. I really need to get my tripod out and try shooting some things at night. In the meantime, I'll enjoy your works.
very cool fireworks shot. My pictures of the reunion fireworks turned out alot like yours...just slightly fuzzy. Your 4th shot is crystal clear...at least from your blog photo. I need to play around with more shots at night too :-)
Wow!!! Gorgeous!!!
