Fortunately

All new homes built on Mackinac Island, that tie in to the sewer system, are required to have a sewer grinder. Most of the grinders look like a small green dome about two feet across and are located in the front yard - the house and the sewer line (which is beneath the road.) Each grinder has an alarm that lights up and sounds when the grinder or the pump isn't working correctly.

Unfortunately, our light went on recently.

Fortunately, my husband was home at the time.

Unfortunately, our grinder is located right in the middle of a garden.

(Fortunately, I've been able to disguise it with hostas and daylilies.)

Unfortunately, when it stops working I have to dig up some of those hostas and daylilies so my husband can get to the pump.

Fortunately, the man can fix just about anything.

The inspiration for this post came from this book. It's an oldie but a goodie!

Glad your hubby was there and able to fix it! Whew! What a relief, huh! Great way to disguise it too!

Good thing it wasn't worse, but I'm sure you could've done without any of that fuss. Hope you are having a great Summer.

This has to stand as one of the most delightfully written posts about a decidedly un-delightful subject that has ever been written!

Glad you are married to a handyman. It does make life a little easier. :)

Wow! Just catching up...you guys have been busy since I last visited. Looks like your summer has been lots of fun. Too bad about the sewer line...it's great to have a handy hubby, isn't it?

Aren't handy-man-hubbies the greatest! Mine is that way too and it saves us time and money on so many things. What a beautiful way to cover the area around the top with flowers.

Fortunately stories are my favourite! I've loved them since a teacher introduced the exercise in a creative writing class in elementary school.

Glad yours ended with a fortunately :)
