The last time I visited my grandma I saw this box sitting on the shelf in her closet. It peaked my curiosity because it had to be, like, forty years old - if not older.
Just look at the treasures I discovered inside:

Hi from Indiana! I recently found your blog and am loving all the posts and this one took me back to my Grandma. She had a big old pickle jar full of buttons and there were always the best buttons!

I have my husband's button collection in an old tin. I love imagining what pieces of clothing they came from.
ReplyDeleteoops! husband's grandmother's collection.
ReplyDeleteLucky you! What a spectacular treasure you have!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of my mom's collection...she's had it going for close to forty years as well...since before she and my dad even married! I always used to love playing with it when I was little...it was a little blue wicker basket just filled with all kinds of big, little, simple, ornate buttons. So wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOH you lucky girl!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have lots of my gram's buttons too! They are wonderful! The zipper REALLY made me think of my grandma, she saved everything! If jeans were beyond repair she would pull out the zipper and save every other possible piece she might re-use! That's a great present you received! I made a couple button pins out of my gram's buttons..
ReplyDeleteLucky, lucky you! What a treasure!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear how many saved boxes of buttons from generations past are being given new life and new appreciation by today's crafters.
Can't wait to see what you do with yours!
that is a treasure! lucky you...so much fun. like a candystore to a child.
ReplyDeleteOooh! What fun! I dream about the day when my grandma's button box will come into my possession (my mother has been holding it hostage, lol)
ReplyDeleteI love Buttons! Great find! Awesome box too.
