Me Likey

(Taken in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, in February 2008, from my second row seat!)

Anyone who has ever lived with me (and been scarred by my playing the same music over and over again) knows that I am a huge Barenaked Ladies fan. If you're not familiar with them you should know they're Canadian, they're men, and they are usually fully clothed. (My friend Michelle and I did get an accidental eye full once.) Anyway...

A while back BNL parted ways with their lead singer, Steven Page (the guy on the left,) and they just came out with their first single since he left the band. Go ahead and listen; I'll wait...

Apparently not all browsers support the widget above. If you don't see a box to play the song, click here to listen.

I'm on listen number 52 (or there abouts) and I like it. I was worried about whether or not I would like their music as much after Steve left the band since he had such an amazing voice, but now I am really looking forward to their next album (due out at the end of March.) I wonder if I can pre-order it yet though Amazon?

  1. As a Canadian teen-ager the Bare-Naked Ladies sung many of our anthem songs. If I Had a Million Dollars was on every mixed tape of the day, and most of us could still sing all the lyrics!

Did you know they were banned from singing at First Night (a dry New Year's Eve celebration) in Toronto in, I think, 1990, because of their name?

  2. I'm glad to hear they've come out with something new! Me likey too! As for live-in's whoo may have an aversion to your BNL fan-dom, I thorouughly enjoyed jammy singing parties with the burt family.... I'm looking forward to that come spring-time. Sound like a date?

  4. Good thing most bands with funny names don't produce funny music.

I've been thinking of giving my tight jeans skirt a similar makeover! What a surprise to see snow diminishing while other places are seeing more of it. And the discovery of grandma's box of treasures is such a wonderful find Liz!

  5. Have you ever met them? I got a chance to in Chicago MANY years ago when they were playing for the Taste. I got all their autographs signed on a tshirt that one of them gave me too. :) They are hilarious and very nice in real life.

  6. I spotlight a blog each day, and while many of my followers are on the One World One Heart giveaway pursuit, some will surely love your blog, which I feature today (Jan 26). It was just a fluke I found your blog on a day when pictures of crayolas were showing, since I did a background technique using them today.

I plan to return to check out your thrifing and tutorials.
