Saturday afternoon the Coast Guard passed by the Island on their way through the Straits. Had I been thinking, I would have opened my Marine Traffic app which would have told me which vessel I was looking at. But, of course, I was too busy enjoying the view.
Liz, THANK YOU again for regularly sharing such beautiful photos and commentary about your life on the Island! I've followed you for years, and several years ago won the Island calendar you gave away. I grew up in the UP, and haven't been back for way toooooo long; hoping to be there in August this year for my 50th high school reunion in Newberry. My mom was an elementary teacher in Mackinac County, and enjoyed her friendship with a man who taught on the Island. After 15 years in FL, when we retired last year, we moved to central VA to build a little home on our daughter's farm. So we are "half-backers".
