Last week my brother and his family came up to Northern Michigan for a visit. He had hoped to find a few petoskey stones while he was on Mackinac, but had no luck. So later in the week while we were all down at my parent's house near Petoskey, Michigan, he searched again. This time he was much more successful. Most of them were small, but that second one from the top will polish up nicely.
We had such a nice visit, although it was too short. He and I drifted apart for a long time and I just love that we are close again. It's too bad they are so darn far away.
I just came back from a visit with my brother. Brothers can be pesky but it's nice to get to know them as men. Glad you had a great time with yours!
ReplyDeleteI love the rocks but know nothing about them....they're quite pretty!
I have 2 brothers and they are both so special to me. Those rocks would make lovely jewelry.
ReplyDeleteOoh! Pretty :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful rock and what's even more beautiful is that you got to spend time with your brother.
ReplyDeleteLiz, thank you for visiting my blog. We have visited Mackinac Island nearly every year for the past ten years or so. We spend a week in Alpena and love to come to Mackinac while we're there. It's such a special place. You must love living there. Incidentally, petoskey stones are very plentiful where we stay on Long Lake in Alpena. You can find one along the shore in a couple minutes. They're so pretty. I love them, especially polished.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had a good visit! I don't know what's happened to all the petoskeys - they used to be so thick on the shoreline and now you really have to hunt. Love them!
ReplyDeletePetoskey stones are just lovely when they are polished. we received one as a gift not long ago. I understand they are hard to find these days - lucky brother to find these!
ReplyDeleteLucky brother to have you for a sister!
I think I have a new obsession: petoskey stones! Seriously -- these are so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you had a good visit with your brother :-)
Always good to spend time with family. I read up a little about Mackinac and it sounds idyllic - no cars and so much undeveloped land! I see why you love it so much, sounds like a wonderful place to live and raise a family. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the meaning behind those pretty stones?
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to reconnect with siblings as adults. My brother and I drifted for a few years but now are closer than ever when we are the farthest in distance in apart. He is in your neck of the world in Vancouver!
How nice that you were able to spend time together! Families are like our lakes, they ebb and flow, but always come back to the shore.
