Silfra is a rift located within the National Park. It's full of glacier melt water, so it's clean and cold - between two and four degrees C (about 35 to 39 degrees F.) Brrrrrrrrrr.
Lots of people snorkel and dive, with dry suits, down in the rift because the water is incredibly clear. But, it was way out of our budget. (I think snorkeling was upwards of $150 each.) The warning signs made me smile; they made it very clear the area was not safe to wander through. Just in case that looked like a good place for a stroll...
