OK, I'll admit it, I'm cheap. Well, maybe not cheap - frugal would be a better word. Yes, that's it, I'm frugal. I hate spending money on
I wanted to have something new for the kids each day, but I didn't want to go broke doing it. Of course, we bought things there too, but I wanted to be able to say something like, "You already got a new ______ today," when the kids were pestering for expensive junk. So I got busy sewing before we left home:
# 1: Homemade Pajamas
# 1: Homemade Pajamas
They were quick and easy! I used my raw-edge applique technique for the shirts - using a Mickey instead of the number, and Butterick 5565 for the shorts. Those shorts are just two pieces, so I think I whipped out both pair in abut an hour and a half. The kids loved them, so I see more jammies like this in our future...
They look great! And I don't think you're 'cheap', you're thinking about what really matters, not just buying overpriced stuff that'll be forgotten about before the children get home. I'm with you on that one!
ReplyDeleteI prefer homemade anyway - you get something unique, and you can make it however you want. These PJs turned out great.
ReplyDeleteI too prefer homemade. I'm trying to instill that into the kids as well. I love that my daughter seems to thing I can make anything, and that her papa can fix anything!
ReplyDeleteVERY cute jammies!!!
ReplyDeleteWe must share that same frugal gene, I feel so much the same way. We're planning on heading to Disney this fall, and I'm already planning the new "princess dress" that I hope to have made for my kiddo. I love the pjs, very cute! Maybe I'll add those to my list, too ;)
ReplyDeleteThose are so cute....I'm going to get Butterick 5565!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week Liz.
what a good idea! I am the same. Your kids will remember all these home made things, they would not if you just keep buying them all the crap they are selling these days! My mum used to make my clothes when I was young and we only had one gift at Christmas or birthday and I remember them. It was magical :o)
ReplyDeletewhat a great idea...I tend to run on the cheap, er frugal side too. Love your idea of having things ready for a trip.
