Police Baby

One of our local police officers and his wife are having a baby this fall; a little boy. So when I saw fabric with all different kinds of police patches at the store, it just screamed onesies to me. I whipped up two of them the other day. (So easy with my applique foot. Thank you Maggie!) The mounted patrol one is my favorite - even though we don't usually have mounted officers on the island.

I wondered if our local police department would give me a patch to use on another one. They did since it's for one of their own. The arm patch was way too big, but the one they use on their hats fit perfectly.

Then three onesies just didn't seem like enough so I also made a couple bibs for the little guy. Calico on one side and flannel on the other. I like how the flannel gives the bib a bit more body and a bit more absorbency.

What have you been making lately?

  1. This is just such a marvelous idea! And how neat that you were able to score an official patch, too. I'm sure the parents will love this thoughtful gift :-)

  5. Oh so cute - reminds me of the little pink camouflage outfits we were given from HB's work when our littlest daughter was born.

I've been working on a seaside swap, slowly but surely, but won't be able to post photos until the parcel reaches my swap partner.

  7. The onesies are absolutely Fantastic and the bibs so cute! You are so talented.

I've learned how to make applique a couple of weeks ago and I made a gift bag and a bag. Now, I've got loads of knitting to do for my friends kids.

  10. Those are just adorable and I love the hats you made too. I am thinking of making a crayon roll (I first saw them on your blog) for the back-to-school swap. Wal-Mart used to have fabric with maps of the US and world which I am going to see if I can find again to make them with.

  11. These couldn't be any cuter! Genius using the police badges. Look how beautiful they look against the white.

And those bibs - I wish you had made me a bunch when I had young children. In those bright, colorful patterns who would ever know some of the beets, carrots or pudding never made it to their destination!
