Finally, last night I got the curtains and the last of the pictures up. I must admit, at first I hated the blue, and I mean hated it, but it is growing on me. And I love how the things on the wall pop against the color. I think my grandmother's tea cups look especially nice. When the wall was white they didn't really show up very well.
You can't really tell in the photos, but there is a small bit of blue in the floral on the curtains. (Montague Parchment by Waverly.) It doesn't match the wall perfectly, but it "goes" quite well. (Wouldn't Stacy London be proud of me!) In case you're curious the color is "blue denim" from Ace Hardware.
The only thing left to do is to get a piece of trim for the wall to cover up the "seam" where the blue paint meets the cream of the entryway. I just can't decide if I want to finish it to match the woodwork of it it would look better if it matched the creamy wall.
So, what do you think?
I think it looks really pretty in the pictures. Can't wait to see it in person. Glad you like it!
ReplyDeleteLove it!!! I am all about rich colours, and this one is awesome.
ReplyDeleteNot only painted but things hung on the walls??? I'm impressed! The color is just spectacular and the room arrangement is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love the blue, it feels so inviting and it makes the wood just gleam!
ReplyDeleteI adore this blue - how perfect, especially for island living! I think I'd go with the wood trim...really really gorgeous, Liz, good pick!
ReplyDeleteAll of your accessories, decorations and furniture really pop against the blue. The color accents the tone of your dining room set perfectly. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! nice contrast between the walls and the fabrics in your drapes. I love a freshly painted room!
ReplyDeleteI'd be too scared to paint the walls a dark-ish colour, so I think you're very brave to do it and it does look great. The curtains are lovely. Sorry, I don't have any suggestions about where the cream meets the blue. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
ReplyDeleteLOVE it! LOVE, LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteOh my Gosh... I can't believe it's the same room as the previous post... It's gorgeous! You are super fast, girl! You inspire me to have a go in my house.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and magic.
I love it. It looks great. The blue really makes everything in the room pop. Have fun with your next room!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had the guts to paint a room blue. I love it.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the details but in looking at the whole room I can see myself enjoying a dinner with friends and family. The elegant simplicity overall would make any meal taste that much better.
ReplyDeleteI like it! It really does bring out the details (like the teacups, which I love!)
ReplyDeleteI love the blue. Everything went together well.
ReplyDeleteI think your room is gorgeous! I think it is always hard to go with vibrant or dark colors in a room. So many of us grew up thinking everything had to be pale so as not to overwhelm our "things" in the room. You did a lovely job!
ReplyDeleteYou are brave! it looks lovely and your decorations really show up against the wall.
ReplyDeleteWhich color will be the next room?
Paint it cream... It will blend in with the wall and not detract from the blue...
ReplyDeleteLovely shade of blue and the tea cups are gorgeous...
WHEN YOU FIRST TOLD US ABOUT THIS PROJECT I WONDER ABOUT THE COLOR. AS I HAD BLUE DEMIN IN MY ROOM 2 YEASR AGO. NOT A GOOD CHOICE. I WILL TRY AND FIND A PICTURE IF NOT THE NEW LOOK IS ON FLIM. I LOVE THIS IN YOUR DINEING ROOM. I LOVE THAT YOUR FIRST THING TO PINT OUT IS THE GRANDMAS TEA CUPS! HOW SPECIAL... THE FIRST THING I NOTICED FROM THE FIRST PIC WAS THE MIRROR AND THE SUPER PRETTY WOOD FUNITURE AND PLACE MATS AND SETTINGS AND LIGHT. LOVE IT! WELL DONE! YOU HAVE SUPER GREAT TASE JUST IN CASE YOU DONT KNOW THAT ALREADY. THANKS FOR THE PICS AND INSPIRATION. MAKES ME WANT TO PAINT YOUR HALL OR WALKING OUT OF DINEING ROOM, LOOKS WHITE OR CREAM?

What a warm, inviting and beautiful room. I could sit at that table sipping coffee or tea for hours. You created a really lovely space for your family. Apparently you "eye" isn't just for photography. You are a natural born artist!
ReplyDeleteLiz, I'm finally catching up on some reading. Enjoying your posts, as always. The room looks gorgeous.
