Toddler Refashion

Now that my daughter is a "big girl" she refuses to wear snap-crotch shirts. "Dose are for babies," she says. Not to mention - she can't go to the bathroom without assistance when she wears one. Well, I couldn't let all those perfectly good turtlenecks and shirts go to waste this winter now could I? So, last night I desnapcrotchafied every last one. I used my rotary cutter to slice off the bottom snap sections and then serged the new edge to finish them off. They may not be beautiful, but I'll settle for wearable. Besides, the bottom hem doesn't show this time of year anyway- it is hidden beneath jumpers and sweaters all day long. It will be our little secret... right?

Does anyone have any good ideas what to do with the leftover snappy bits? I couldn't bear to throw them away.

how about making a little outfit for her doll and putting them on the bottom so she learns how to snap?

  3. Can I just how, how brilliant?!?
I would never have thought of that.

You could make a cloth book ... different pictures with the snaps opening.

  4. "desnapcrotchafied" - what a great word.

I can't think of anything to do with the snaps, but I'm sure you will before long. And I'd like to see what you do with them.

  6. Great idea, have been doing some refashioning myself this week. My trousers made into trousers for Mister T, I even used the back pockets on them

  7. no suggestions from me...just remembering those days and missing them. I used to do the very thing you just did...I hated seeing those snappy parts just hanging between their chubby little legs. (besides that, those snaps can get cold!)

  8. Hey I found your crafty section :) Didn't realize you were a fellow sewer. I cut the bottoms off my girls onsies too. My oldest potty trained herself early and the snaps were always in the way. I wish I had a serger to make the edge a little neater though. But they held up ok on thier own. :)
